Health and safety consultancy

Safer work for all.

Keeping people safe and well is a priority for everybody working within infrastructure and the built environment, at every stage of the asset lifecycle, while the human, environmental and business costs of getting it wrong are substantial. An integrated approach to safety results in better value projects, with reduced risk and disruption.

Better health and safety is a journey involving behaviour change as well as improved physical safety measures and processes. We can meet you wherever you are at in your journey, helping you to overcome barriers and achieve desired outcomes.

What can we do for you?

Covering the full scope of your health, safety and wellbeing needs, we act as a collaborative partner. We listen, observe to understand your challenges, and support you through coaching, training and insight to drive improvement.

We can help you:

Create a safer work culture

Cultural change is always challenging, but leaders can have the biggest influence on culture through their words and actions. We work with you, including through bespoke coaching, to foster progress from the top.

Meet the highest standards

We’re experts in the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, meeting which is a core duty of designers and contractors in the UK and which are considered the gold standard for safe construction internationally.

Leave a safety legacy

The benefits of a sound health and safety approach don’t end with successful construction. By designing and building the right way, we can make structures safer for maintenance teams, operational staff and users for decades to come.

Services we provide

Leading health and safety consulting for risk management

We combine our team of leading-edge multidisciplinary experts with our engineering heritage skills to help you effectively achieve your health, safety and wellbeing goals across every infrastructure sector.

Our experience

  • High Speed 2, UK
We’ve provided CDM advisory services to the flagship high speed rail project between London and the Midlands. Our use of the observational method and DAARWIN – a software solution that employs machine learning – has also brought health and safety benefits for the excavation work taking place at Bromford for HS2 Phase 1.
  • Hydropower project, Asia
We provided integrated health and safety advice alongside design and supervisory services for a major hydropower project in Asia, involving deep excavations, reprofiling of valley sides, construction of large reinforced concrete structures, tunnels and shafts, and an electricity transmission line. At peak, the project will employ about 2500 workers. We completed an onsite health and safety review, and conducted workshops and coaching aimed at reinforcing safety leadership and behaviour.
  • London power tunnels, UK
The delivery of new power tunnels is a crucial part of National Grid’s £940M investment plan to modernise the capital’s electricity transmission network. Our role has included construction monitoring and risk management for the design and construction of 32km of tunnels and 14 shafts, the installation of 64km of high voltage cable, and the construction of two major substations. We held risk workshops with stakeholders, used digital tools to manage health and safety risks, and supplied personnel to monitor construction on site.
  • National Highways, UK
As part of our long term framework partnership with National Highways, our specialists are coaching, challenging and supporting its project management teams to create a culture of health, safety and wellbeing. Working as a fully integrated part of the southeast regional investment programme team, we developed a series of interactive bitesize coaching sessions, delivered by specialists in construction, health, safety, wellbeing and behavioural science. The sessions were designed to coach colleagues in the practical application of health and safety knowledge when projects mobilise for construction.

Safe by Design

Safe by Design visualises a project in 3D. Hazards can be geolocated, categorised, scored and filtered. Risks are represented geospatially by hazard warning triangles. It provides a single source of information, enabling focused conversations with stakeholders. Dashboard visualisation makes it easy to set and track key performance indicators and to benchmark performance against similar projects.
